Book Signing!
I had my first solo bookstore signing this weekend, which was tons of fun. I wore the earrings Kristen Painter made for me, for luck! They totally worked. I met some very interesting readers, sold multiple copies to friends from church (yikes!) who hadn't bought it yet, and gave out dozens of cookies. A good time was had by all! It was a busy weekend; we also had a Halloween party to attend. I dressed up as Julia Child, mostly because I had everything I needed for it already. And also because I love her. Here's how it turned out! I know, I wouldn't win any lookalike contests. But I had fun! If you can't make it out, that's a whisk I'm holding up so proudly. And yes, if you look closely, there's a spot on my shirt where I spilled red wine.
This is my favorite part:Do you have any Halloween parties coming up? What costume are you planning?
Cookies!

So this is what a book signing looks like ?? Why am I not surprised to see cookies around ?

And what is this "Ecole des Gourmandes" thing, a pin ?

Congrats on the book signing! If I had 2 nickels to rub together, I'd so be buying it myself...along with a long list of others!!!

Looks like fun! I would have loved to see you as Julia Child. Do you do the accent too?

Kristen - Yes, One Track Mind, there are cookies. And they rocked!
Emmanuelle - L'Ecole des Trois Gourmandes was Julia's private cooking school for American wives in Paris, the one she, Louisette Bertholle, and Simone Beck formed before starting the cookbook. In her show, Julia often wore a shirt with their school's emblem patched on it! It was a nice touch, one my husband thought up.
Embee - You're one of my most loyal blog readers! I hate to think of you without a copy of CStH. I can't help with the rest of your wish list, but if you email me your address, I'll send you a signed copy of my book. www.louisaedwards.com
Maria - I did it a few times, but couldn't keep it up. Requires a lot of lung power to do the Julia voice!

Thank you for answering Louisa. I'll have to watch the movie, maybe I'll learn more about her.
