BEA or BUST!

I'm back in New York! God, I love this town. And I especially love it when it's overrun with authors, booksellers, librarians, publishers, and various other people who adore books as much as I do. This week is the big BookExpo America convention, where the whole publishing world comes together at the Javits Center to get totally geeked about the books that are coming out this year. And for the first time ever, I'll be there! Really looking forward to walking around and seeing all the different booths and running into friends.

And if you're planning to be at BEA yourself, please come see me! I'll be signing the Market trilogy at the RWA booth today from 12:30 to 1:30...and I'll have my Romance Trading Cards to give out, to start introducing my new Rising Star Chef series to the world. I'd love to see you, and show you pictures of my hot, hot chef heroes!

Book Signing, Port Clinton, OH

Tomorrow, I'll be signing books in beautiful downtown Port Clinton, with Lake Erie sparkling in the background, and hordes of crowds will be showing up! Not for me, exactly--but for the Annual Walleye Festival. That's right, I will almost certainly be upstaged by one of the ugliest fish known to man, but that's fine. I'm not threatened, or anything. I *am* planning to have fish and chips for dinner, though. ; )

The Book Exchange bookstore, run by my friend and fabulous bookseller Annette Fitzgerald, has organized a booth at the festival that will host a rotating multi-author signing. My slot is tomorrow, Saturday May 29th, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and I'll be signing On the Steamy Side alongside mystery author Libby Hellman, inspirational romance author Sandy Wickersham-McWhorter, and women's fiction author Martha Moody. I'm so excited! We're going to have a ball, and if you're in the area, you should come down, check out the festival (which I hear is crazy--it's my first year going!) eat some flaky, mild, delicious walleye, and buy some books.

Book Signing!

I had my first solo bookstore signing this weekend, which was tons of fun. I wore the earrings Kristen Painter made for me, for luck! They totally worked. I met some very interesting readers, sold multiple copies to friends from church (yikes!) who hadn't bought it yet, and gave out dozens of cookies. A good time was had by all! It was a busy weekend; we also had a Halloween party to attend. I dressed up as Julia Child, mostly because I had everything I needed for it already. And also because I love her. Here's how it turned out! I know, I wouldn't win any lookalike contests. But I had fun! If you can't make it out, that's a whisk I'm holding up so proudly. And yes, if you look closely, there's a spot on my shirt where I spilled red wine.
