Hey, E-book Readers...

I just found out that B&N is offering a digital version of Can't Stand the Heat at less than $6! $5.59, to be exact. And Fictionwise has it for $6.99, with a rebate that puts the actual cost at $3.84.

Sorry for the infomercial moment, but I was excited! Go on about your business...

Mama's Coming!

My mother is coming to visit this weekend, and I'm so excited! I plan to put her right to work helping me test recipes for Just One Taste, the third Recipe for Love novel. I got a lot of my kitchen mojo from her; both of my parents are fantastic cooks! Holiday meals bring people together at the table, but in my family, the food brings us all together in the kitchen while we cook it! That's my favorite part of any family holiday.

I've got to run pick her up from the airport in just a little bit, then we're going straight to the beautiful West Side Market in downtown Cleveland for supplies. Working on a sexy update of chicken soup, something unexpected with chocolate, and maybe a new cocktail...Wish us luck!

Adam Lambert

Yes, I've succumbed to the great and inevitable power that is Adam Lambert, American Idol runner-up, infant glam-rocker, and all-around media sensation. I've never watched AI, so I missed his rise to fame, and when his album came out, I have to say--I dismissed him as another emo whiner. That album cover does him no favors. BUT when I heard his cover of Mad World by Tears for Fears (on my soap opera, of all places--General Hospital is using it as the theme for an ongoing storyline about a psycho; they're nothing if not literal) I started coming around. Because it turns out Adam isn't emo, he's more like if David Bowie and Lady GaGa had a kid. Sort of wild and crazy and fabulous, but also kind of sweet. (The way I imagine David Bowie is. Yes, I've thought about it.)

And seriously? I listed to that version of Mad World on repeat all day yesterday. So clearly, he's got something.

What about you? Sporting any new obsessions?

First ON THE STEAMY SIDE Review!

Michelle Buonfiglio, columnist for B&N's romance blog, Heart to Heart, has posted the very first review of On the Steamy Side (at least, the first I've seen,) and I'm breathless with happiness! It's actually a really fun, funny review, and I love (and will be rereading and probably memorizing) many lines from it, but my favorite is:

”On the Steamy Side” is an instant re-read, a fresh, emotions-first take on the food-infused romance and, quite simply, a stellar example of the health and vibrancy of the American contemporary romance. I’m betting it ends up on any number of Best of 2010 lists.

Um. Yes, please?

Go! Read! Comment! And if you haven't already, feel free to pre-order the book. *grin*

ON THE STEAMY SIDE Arc Contest Winner!

Drumroll please! Using a random chooser program, I very scientifically drew one name out of the metaphorical hat and...

CHRISTINE FLYNN, come on down!

You have won your very own, not-yet-available-in-stores (although totally available for pre-order!) copy of On the Steamy Side! Well, an advanced reading copy, which, I warn you, may contain a few little typos here and there. Just to make the read extra exciting. I hope you enjoy it! Email me your address at louisa@louisaedwards.com and I'll sign that sucker and send it out to you asap!

Thank you so much to everyone who entered the contest. I wish I had an ARC for each of you! Keep checking back for more chances to win books--I might get a few early copies of the real thing that I'll be able to give away.

ON THE STEAMY SIDE Arc Contest!

I was thrilled by how many of you want to get your hot little hands on an advance reading copy of On the Steamy Side! So thrilled that I think the only thing to do is to run a contest. I'm thinking...trivia contest!! (Or, if you remember the SATs, this will be like one of those questions from the Reading Comprehension section. LOL)

So here's the deal. Answer the questions below correctly for a chance to win one of my few, precious ARCs! All answers can be found in the excerpt from On the Steamy Side posted on my site, found here.

Email your answers to louisa@louisaedwards.com, with 'Trivia' in the subject line, and on next Friday, January 22nd, I'll randomly select a winner from those who have qualified.

1.) List the ingredients in the special cocktail the Chapel bartender mixes for Devon's PR guy.

2.) Describe the shirt Lilah is wearing when she first makes Devon's acquaintance.

3.) What does Devon offer Lilah as enticement to come home with him?

Good luck!*

*Due to changes in contest restrictions from country to country, this contest is open to legal U.S. residents, ages 18 and up

ARCs Are Cool!

And I got me some! Pretty, shiny On the Steamy Side ARCs, to be exact. My publicist immediately pounced them and got the lion's share, but I managed to squirrel away two or three...so what should I do with them? *grin*

I Feel Like the Prom Queen

On the Steamy Side got picked to be a Featured Alternate Selection at the Rhapsody Book Club! How cool is that? It will be in their catalog, which goes out to thousands upon thousands of dedicated romance readers, and there will be a special hardcover edition of the book, exclusively for the club! I'm super stoked.

And also kind of kicking myself for not checking into this Rhapsody thing a long time ago, because it is seriously cool. I'm definitely joining up, and I'm hoping there's a way I can sign my sister up, too, because she'd get a huge kick out of it. Anybody who loves romance would! Deep discounts, a carefully culled list of top sellers and new authors, and new books to choose from every single month. I know, I sound like an infomercial, but man! This is cool.

We're talking about some fun extra content things for the Rhapsody site, like a Dear Reader letter from moi, as well as maybe a recipe and cooking demo video (what should I make??) but all of that is still pending. What I know for sure is, I'm very proud to be a Rhapsody author!

I confess, I've read the Wikipedia entry on steampunk, and that's pretty much everything I know about the subgenre. But it seems like all anyone is talking about these days, so I was very glad to see that the fabulous Romance Divas are putting on a workshop. Some extremely cool authors are involved, and they promise to explain what the heck all the fuss is about! Check it out:
