What's On Your Desk?

Full disclosure: A lamp, external hard drive, back issues of RWR, Domino, and Gourmet, Agnes and the Hit Man by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer, extra cover flats for Can't Stand the Heat, a box of Kleenex, a cut-crystal candy jar filled with paper clips, sheet music for choir pieces we sang three Sundays ago, On the Line by Eric Ripert, subscription renewal notice for Food & Wine magazine, a granola bar, To Romance a Charming Rogue by Nicole Jordan, three dirty glasses, a printed out copy of some ancient, unknown draft of Can't Stand the Heat, a pair of plyers, and two boxes of Christmas cards I never sent out.
Clearly, I'm in dire need of a bit of spring cleaning. Not yet; I've got a book to finish first. Come June 2nd, though--watch out, dust bunnies!

So what's on your desk?

It's not so much what's on my desk, as what's on the floor surrounding my desk: tax receipts for 2008, dictionary, catalogs from 3-4 publishers, LA Times Festival of Books schedule from last weekend, Entertainment Weekly, NAL/Berkley paranormal samplers, box of advance copies of Shannon K. Butcher's Burning Alive, laptop, and headphones. And I need to vacuum, so it's all got to find another home very soon.

Phone, tissues, 2 sets of iPod speakers, CD's, nail polish, candle, several notepads, packs of matches imprinted with Deidre Knight's Red Kiss title, noise canceling headphones, my laptop, pieces of two different English castles (sshhh), a lucky bamboo plant, sticky notes, a glass of water, a bar napkin with an email address on it, 3 books, a few catalogs and a cat. Sometimes. Sometimes there's no cat. Or two. Just depends.

I believe my desk is quickly starting to look like yours! YIKES!

Some books I ordered from B&N (and one from Nonie for Xmas) that haven't made it home yet. The project folders for the stuff I'm working on right now. My notebook. My laptop, lamp, phone, videoconference monitor, and...

The chandelier crystal paperweights we bought together in Paris!!!

I'm sure you won't be surprised to know that all of this is in very neat piles and arranged just so.

Nice office. I don't really have a desk. I write at the kitchen table but mostly on my bed. So sad. so pillows, blankets, cell phone, purse, a bra, remote and laptop. A hot mess. I need and office space but no room in tiny house.
